I bought a Sigma 150-600mm zoom lens in February 2017. My original intention with the big Sig was to take moon shots and perhaps even a few photos of the planets. That only took up some of the evening, the birds then became the focus of the days, as regular readers will know and I have photographed more than 200 species since.
There have been a few astro shots of stars, moons, and planets too, including the crescent Moon and the crescent Venus in the same shot, Saturn’s rings, Jupiter’s moons, the stars above All Saints’ Church, Cottenham (and satellite light trail). The photos I have so far of the International Space Station (ISS) are not worth sharing.

Waxing Gibbous - mineral moon
98% waxing gibbous as you would see it if you could turn up the colour sensitivity of your eyes. The different colours emerge because of the way different minerals on the surface scatter sunlight to different degrees. 24 Oct 2023 -
