European badger (Meles meles) - Rather tragic that most people usually only ever see this species as roadkill. As of April 2022, there seems to be an inordinate number of dead badgers on local roads. Maybe numbers of live ones are actually up or it's just the time of year and they're more active and at risk crossing roads unaware of the giant metal predators that lurch to and fro oblivious to their plight. -

Common toad (Bufo bufo)
Common toad (Bufo bufo) - Spawning in the bird-hide pond on at NT Anglesey Abbey in Lode, Cambridgeshire. Toadspawn looks like a necklace of black beads on a string, whereas frogspawn forms in clumps. That said, there's no real distinction between toads and frogs. Toads are just a type of frog (Bufonidae). 21 Mar 2019 -
