Sun setting along the local fen drainage ditch, more romantically known as the Cottenham Lode...what are these critters, a few that I managed to get in the frame in focus of hundreds undulating in clusters along the banks of the waterway catching the sunlight. only two wings, no tail filaments. I think these are dipterids, perhaps small craneflies or perhaps more likely (non-biting) winter gnats, also known as winter craneflies: Trichoceridae. 27 Feb 2019 -
