A capella blackcap – Sylvia atricapilla

Several blackcaps (Sylvia atricapilla) in the Rampton spinney today, singing their summer song a capella, loud but shy birds. These birds are German/East European/Russian summer migrants to the British Isles, coming over here eating our berries and insects…and very welcome they are too! Widespread and typical warbler, with mainly olive-grey upperparts and pale grey underparts and a black cap, obviously.
