First spotted the excellent Cambridge (and Brighton) band EdwardAlice at the 2014 Lodestar Festival in 2014 and took a few photos of their performance. They cite their influences as musical influences ranging from The Beatles to Toots and the Maytals, but to my ear their forthcoming EP is reminiscent of Athlete and The Streets blended with a little bit of Vampire Weekend, which makes for a cool and mellow sound yet with a certain edginess. Recent veterans of BBC Introducing, catch them while they’re rarefied.

You can tell they’re eclectic from the instrumental lineup, although as you’d expect from acoustic folk pop, everyone gets to sing (and rightly so): Tom Pollyn (ukelele and vocals), Olivia Horrox (cajon and vocals), Christian Jones (guitar and vocals) and Katherine Burr (melodica and vocals). Lovely harmonies and glistening strings.
New “Animals” EP out 9th May from all the usual spaces and places. Launch party is at The Golden Hind pub on the junction of Milton and Kings Hedges Roads.
