Una paloma blanca flying high in Thetford Forest, 4th of July 2015, plenty of sparks #NoFireworks #ForestFires
Additional photos from Paloma Faith’s 4th July 2015 show in Thetford Forest can be found on my flickr page.
We’ve been going to forest gigs at High Lodge, Thetford Forest for years, we’ve seen Jools Holland, Crowded House, Blondie, The Human League, Pulp, The Hours, British Sea Power, Travis, Keane, Hue and Cry and others I cannot even remember. It’s always a great night, picnic with your plastic plates and plastic cultery, few drinks from your plastic bottles (no cans nor glass allowed). It usually rains and we end up cold and wet and only if the band is awesome does that not matter.
Then comes 4th of July 2015, the south of England is in a heatwave, it’s scorchio, we have a bag stuffed with goodies and wine in plastic carafs. The is still up, there’s an atmosphere, well there would be with 9000 people drinking in Liam Bailey’s mellows tones with sidekick Strat player and bassist as warm up for Paloma Faith. She is sublime, the band are spot on, backing singers wonderful, they even did a cover of Purple Haze. It’s still light when she finishes her final encore and we retire to the grassy car park to have a coffee and some homemade cake while everyone else sits in the queue to get back on to the A11 and home…wonderful stuff.
(PS I’d always assumed una paloma, was just a bird, but it’s a pigeon!)
