The science inside Lytro – You've probably heard the buzz, there's a paradigm shift on its way in photography. The Lytro technology uses a new type of sensor to capture the light field, which traps intensity and hue and direction of every point of light hitting the sensor. What this means is that you can ignore in-camera focus from now on. Simply take your photo and do the focusing in software afterwards. Adjust focal point, depth of field etc at whim. The Lytro website asks for an email address so that you can "reserve" your camera. There are no hints of price yet, but this sounds like a bigger revolution than the jump from film to digital. It could change everything…
