The seed packet I bought from our local garden centre called them “golden zucchini”, looks like a yellow courgette to me…

The courgette, or zucchini, if you must, Cucurbita pepo, was apparently first cultivated in 15th Century Italy. It’s treated as a vegetable, or salad vegetable, but it is scientifically speaking the swollen, seed-bearing ovary of the plant and therefore, by definition, a fruit (cf tomato, aubergine, but not strawberry).
