Sciencebase sings Starman

My cover of David Bowie’s Starman. Imagery generated with music visualization software (recorded with my dSLR on a tripod while it played out on WinAmp on my PC) and some snippets of Bowie at the BBC, ToTP 1972 with the Spiders from Mars treated with some kitschy effects in Windows Movie Maker. Also attempted to write my name in the Blackstar “font” for the closing titles. As ever me vocals, guitars, bass and production. Midi on drums.

If only he didn’t use open string chords up the neck I could have transposed this down a couple of semitones so I could actually reach the top note on the line “He told them: let the children use it”. It’s such a relief to descend with the melody to the words, “let all the children boooogie”. Anyway, it’s mostly in tune, I hope just a bit falsetto on the choruses!

There’s a version of this on the sciencebase Youtube channel too, although this one has a few tweaks to the video and some glitches ironed out of the audio mix.
